About The Founder

Michelle Gaine is the Founder and lead therapist of Bodies in Balance and it is her unique vision of how massage therapy should be implemented for clients that guides our company.  Michelle is a LMBT and AMTA member, based in Hopewell Junction, NY.  She grew up in the Hudson Valley in upstate NY playing competitive sports. “I love helping people improve their physical performance”, she says. “I am fascinated with the neuro-muscular system and its relationship to health and peak performance”.

Michelle graduated from SUNY Delhi in May 1988, where she continued participating in competitive sports as a member of the university’s softball team. It was several years after this that her focus changed when she was involved in a car accident that changed her life. The various therapists that she worked with over the course of her 12 month recovery had such an impact on her, she decided that she, too, would like to help others in this fashion as her life’s work.

In December 2000, Michelle realized her goal and graduated from the extended clinical program at The Connecticut Center for Massage Therapy. In addition to her NYS license also is a Board Certified therapist and a member of the American massage therapy association.

Michelle has been working with various chiropractors, orthopedic surgeons, and other medical practitioners since early in her career and together they have helped countless people live healthier, more active lives. Clients often remark about her enthusiasm and ability to teach them how to improve their physical health and performance.

According to Michelle, "Bodies in Balance gives us the ability to make a difference in the lives of clients and is a reflection of my philosophy that treatment must fit the specific needs of the individual.  It should be flexible and fluid and not implemented in a cookie-cutter approach.  I believe in using the full scope of our experiences and a wide range of modalities to provide our clients with the best treatment possible."
